Community Leader Job Description
Job Title: Community Leader
Job Overview: Serve as one of four young adult leaders of Community through Theater, meeting monthly to plan and organize community events, assist with young adult recruitment, and determine the future directions of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: Community Leaders will meet monthly over Zoom from September to June, and will also assist with tasks between meetings and community events. Community Leaders should expect to commit approximately 5 hours per month to the work. Specific responsibilities include:
Researching and selecting the shows for Free Theater Nights
Researching and selecting community organizations for the pre-show community fairs
Recruiting young adults to the community events (through emails, flyers, word of mouth, etc.)
Attending and coordinating Free Theater Nights (helping with set up, checking in young adult attendees, answering questions, etc.)
Reviewing applications for “Community Rehearsal” event grants, and selecting winning proposals
Providing feedback and perspective on Community through Theater, and determining future directions
Qualifications: Young adults must be 14-24 years old to apply (young adults under 18 require guardian permission). We especially welcome applications from young adults who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC.
Applicants with a background in community-building (formally or informally) or a goal to incorporate community-building in their future careers are prioritized.
Compensation: Young adults will be given a $1,000 stipend for their leadership, which will be received in two installments ($500 visa gift card in December, $500 visa gift card in June). Our team is also more than happy to write letters of recommendation on your behalf, if requested.
Application Timeline: Applications are due on September 27th, 2024. Select applicants will be notified to schedule a 30 minute interview. Four Community Leaders will be chosen before October 1st, 2024.
